Meet the Team: Jack Baker — Our Content Editor

Introduction

Introducing our Content Editor Jack, who has been onboard the Tree View Designs Family for two amazing years. It’s been an exhilarating journey undertaking multiple projects across the UK crafting visually stunning accessible websites that improve both the GP Practice and Patients experience.

Jack’s a dedicated Account Manager for a select few of our Ultimate customers, ensuring that they go above and beyond their NHS framework goals. Jack also forms a part of our well oiled customer support machine here at Tree View Designs, providing fast, and efficient service whenever our customers need us.

Role at Tree View Designs

Jack wears three connected hats — content editor, account manager, and front-line customer support — and the same instincts run through all of them. As content editor, he’s the person making sure every page on a GP practice website actually works for the patient who needs to read it: appropriate reading age, no NHS jargon left lurking, plain English where the practice has drifted into clinical-speak, and the whole thing audited against WCAG 2.2 (AA) accessibility standards.

As account manager for a handful of Ultimate-tier customers, Jack is the practice’s day-to-day point of contact — the person who knows their site, knows their team, and knows what they’re trying to do for their patient population. That continuity matters: instead of a fresh ticket-handler each time, Ultimate clients get someone who’s already up to speed.

The support work flows naturally from there. When tickets come in, Jack’s combination of design thinking, content sense, and direct relationships means he can usually fix the actual problem rather than just the symptom on the form.

Background

Jack’s journey to Tree View Designs has been diverse and unique. From a young age Jack’s creativity shone as he broadcasted a podcast from his teenage bedroom. As the host of Ultimate FM Jack connected with fellow hosts to establish a vibrant podcast network that reached thousands every week. His creative energy and drive didn’t stop there he went on to study Graphic/Web Design at University.

After qualifying as a Graphic/Web Designer, Jack started crafting captivating marketing materials for both local businesses and global icons. His unique talent was recognised quickly creating once in a life time opportunities including collaborating with the remarkable Winter Paralympian Millie Knight, whose unique perspective on accessibility opened Jack up to a whole new world.

That accessibility lens has shaped everything he’s done since. NHS GP practice websites have one of the broadest patient demographics imaginable — older users, people with low digital confidence, people relying on screen readers — and Jack’s discipline of designing for the person who’s struggling, not the person who’s confident, carries directly into the work.

During his university days Jack delved into the realm of website design, taking on thrilling projects such as creating a cutting-edge WebGL website for NASA’s Mars Rovers and collaborating with NASA JPL.

Fun Facts

Sci-fi enthusiast Jack enjoys immersing himself in the captivating worlds of Star Wars and Star Trek, he also loves to discover new films with his second home being the local Cinema; even getting personal invites to film premiers there. When Jack’s not doing that his passion for music takes front seat, where strumming on his guitar boosts his creativity and drive.
